Hibiscus Thai Cuisine Restaurant Review:

On the opposite side of the parking lot from Home Depot, this small Thai restaurant is brightly colored and its walls are covered with bold paintings of hibiscus. The result: a somewhat tropical setting in the middle of Reston. Removed as it is from the traffic flow, it succeeds anyway, as the kitchen has done a fine job of attracting crowds of all ages. Its menu is comprehensive, unlike many of its competitors, offering a full range of curries, stir-fries, noodles and rice, grilled meats, and assorted soups and appetizers. A highlight is the crispy duck with its toss of trimmed onions and red peppers, followed closely by the drunken noodles. That’s a tricky dish to master, for it’s tempting to add too many chilies to compensate for a lack of other flavors. The crispy tofu appetizer is ultra crispy, almost too much so, and the Thai eggplant stands up well in its mild sauce. Desserts are mango and sticky rice, and custard and sticky rice. Drinks are limited to a few wines and beers, plus sodas and tea.
