Yes, Hoang's will do well by you on the sushi-sashemi-maki front. They know how to put on a show. But stop there and you'd be missing the other specialties of this pan-Asian house, including the Vietnamese grilled pork with caramel sauce, the spicy Thai soup tom yum koong with lemon grass and shrimp, and the nicely done Szechuan beef with spicy garlic sauce. It's true that jacks of all trades can end up masters of none, but both the original Hoang's in Mt. Washington and its newer sibling at Lighthouse Point in Canton do a credible job rounding up the simpler standards of Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese kitchens and serving them up stylishly.
