Hopdoddy Burger Bar Restaurant Review: There’s a standard 30 to 40 minute wait outside the door of Hopdoddy, and once you’re inside, the ordering process is so confusing it warrants a full-time employee just to give tutorials. Still, the atmosphere is exciting and pure Austin --- equal parts laid-back slacker and metropolitan hipster; it's enviro-friendly, too. The house-ground beef is hormone-free; produce is organic and mostly local; and the staff recycles and composts everything. If you'd like to treat yourself for enduring the wait, go for the Primetime burger featuring Brie, truffle aïoli, arugula, caramelized onions and steak sauce. The Terlingua is another favorite burger and it arrives topped with chile con carne, cheddar, corn Frito's and sassy sauce. Lest the beef get all the glory, the buns (made in-house daily) deserve kudos for their kolache dough resemblance and buttery, moist texture. Most of the craft brews are local, as are many of the spirits. Even the syrups for the inventive cocktails are house-made and organic.
