Hopdoddy Burger Bar Restaurant Review: There’s a standard 30 to 40 minute wait in line outside the door of Hopdoddy, and, once you’re inside, the ordering process is so confusing it warrants a full-time employee just to give tutorials. Still, the atmosphere is exciting and pure Austin --- equal parts laid-back slacker and metropolitan hipster --- enviro-friendly, too. The house-ground beef is hormone-free; produce is organic and mostly local; and the staff recycles and composts everything. If you'd like to treat yourself for enduring the wait, go for the Goodnight burger featuring Brie, truffle aïoli, arugula, caramelized onions and steak sauce. Lest the beef get all the glory, the buns (made in-house daily) deserve kudos --- almost sweet, like kolache dough, and buttery moist. Most of the craft brews are local and many of the spirits are as well. Even the syrups for the inventive cocktails are house-made and, yep, organic.
