Hukilau Lanai Restaurant Review: Ambience and service are both island-style at the Hukilau Lanai, meaning it's relaxed, but that's a good thing. This is a place where you can just hang out and enjoy a leisurely meal of well-prepared original dishes created from mostly local ingredients. It's also a lovely spot for a drink and appetizers, as the torch-lit lanai overlooks the ocean and easy-listening music is performed nightly. Ahi poke nachos and barbecue ribs are top choices on the pupu menu, while entrées run the gamut from steak Crown Royale through meatloaf prepared from local grass-fed beef. However, fresh island fish paired with well-suited sauces is where the kitchen shines. You’ll find opah, ahi, mahi mahi, or whatever is good and fresh. A full bar ensures no one goes thirsty. Desserts are creative: don't miss the coconut lilikoi torte or warm Hawaiian chocolate cake. A separate menu of gluten-free items is a thoughtful touch.
