| Tucked into the corner of a Hastings Ranch shopping center parking lot is this reliable, albeit unremarkable, neighborhood Japanese restaurant with a horseshoe-shaped sushi bar and traditional décor. The sushi is hardly first-rate, but the prices are agreeable and most fish represents reasonably good quality. Even some dishes that underwhelm---pasty tuna tartare slathered on wonton chips topped with tempura crumbs---are generously plated and manage to satisfy a quick fix. A wide selection of rolls keeps the regulars happy, along with decent teriyaki dishes. While there are better sushi bars in Pasadena, don’t be surprised to find yourself waiting in line at Ichima. |
