Huron Village used to be home to Julia Child and has a cheese store with its own ripening cave and a bistro with a child-friendly slant. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that one of the local pizza joints (the other, part of a fierce rivalry---Real Pizza---is across the street) is just a little bit different. Some of the savory song remains the same. Flavors are Italian-Americanized, which is to say a little heavy, a little greasy, and endearing for their willingness to be that way. We think the telling taste at work here is in the details. Sandwiches have filling combos like smoked speck, goat cheese, and arugula; pizzas are rich with heavy cream, porcinis, and mozzarella. The restaurant also offers crisp, chewy breads like one used to find in the North End on every corner and four-cheese pizzas which, changing mix withstanding, manage to strike the salty-sweet balance that overcomes the heavy cheesiness of the whole production. That’s neighborly love.
