| One of LA's oldest and most beloved coffeehouses, Insomnia offers an escape from the rat race of Los Angeles life. The space is set up to emulate an East Coast college haunt with red concrete floors, dim lighting, overstuffed couches and threadbare upholstered chairs. There are also ample chipped tables, generally employed by Mac users setting up shop for an afternoon of strong Joe and a little script writing. As if Insomnia didn't find enough ways to distinguish itself from the typical Coffee Bean-style java stop, the shop is now immortalized on daytime television as the twenty-something hang-out on CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful. The menu is basic coffeehouse stuff; there are muffins in the morning along with a few sandwiches and a killer carrot cake. A full espresso bar and a welcoming attitude are Insomnia's real draws. |
