Bob’s Bunz Islamorada Restaurant & Bakery Restaurant Review:
For over 20 years, since pastry chef Robert Spencer Jr. relocated from Philadelphia to the Florida Keys and opened a bakery business, Islamorada locals have been calling it Bob’s Bunz. Baker Bob’s signature items are sticky buns topped with walnuts, and frosting-swirled cinnamon buns. Other fresh-baked favorites include mini Key lime Bundt cakes and Black Forest puff pastries. The sit-down restaurant is a good place to take a coffee break, especially since breakfast dishes include the Islamorada Skillet: home fries topped with melted provolone and smothered in sausage gravy with two basted eggs. Other breakfast dishes range from original creations of blueberry bread french toast finished with a deep-fried banana to the regular Wednesday special of two grilled sticky buns with caramel sauce plus bacon.
