THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Island Palm Grill Restaurant Review:
Chef David Kruse---once in the Manhattan kitchen of Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill---brings his own brand of cooking to the Jersey Shore. The menu includes such dishes as grilled smoked pork loin that has been brined in maple syrup; it’s served with grilled vegetables, chive parsley smashed potatoes, cherry tomatoes and napped with a heady garlic citrus sauce. Or Alaskan king crab cocktail---an inventive take on the classic shrimp cocktail---made by marinating the crab in mango-lime juice then serving the shellfish with mango salsa. The place itself is cozy and welcoming with its terra-cotta-colored storefront and pleasing interior. Kruse also excels at desserts so leave room for coconut crème brûlée if you are there on a night when he makes it.
