The first restaurant in what was to become a local dining empire, Ivar's Acres of Clams offers a panoramic dockside view of Elliott Bay. There’s nothing fancy about this big, bright eatery, which caters to tourists as well as loyal locals who come for the fresh fish. All enjoy Ivar's thick clam chowder and crisp fish ‘n’ chips along with the scenery. The menu also includes a mixed seafood grill, wild Alaskan halibut, and Alaska king crab legs, plus more complex dishes such as Northwest mussels in coconut curry and a respectable saffron-accented bouillabaisse loaded with shellfish, salmon and halibut. Don't forget the clams---acres of 'em! Those who do not opt for fish will savor the pork porterhouse with apple-orange beurre blanc or the grilled orange chicken with cranberry plum sauce. Family-friendly, Ivar's is the perfect place to watch ferry boats or enjoy the sunset.
