It's always a big, noisy party at Jax. There are good-looking crowds spilling out the door---waiting for a table or sitting out on a small sidewalk patio so friends spot friends and come over for a drink. Everyone orders martinis made with fruit-infused vodka or the lip-tingling Bloody Marys. Inside, fish art hangs on exposed brick walls and dangles from the ceiling. The tables are very close together but that only seems to add to the festive atmosphere. The raw bar is large (you can sample oysters from all over the world) and the shuckers are quick. Fish and shellfish are flown in daily and change with the seasons and availability. There's a decent, well-priced wine list.
