THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Jefferson Grill Restaurant Review:

After health problems in 2005, Malaysian-Chinese chef Simpson Wong shut down his West Village restaurant and started all over again. The décor is the same: the sleek banquettes still line the perimeter of the room and the walls are still stark and minimal. But the menu has been completely revamped---or, we should say, thinned down. Gone are the buttery and creamy fancy fusion dishes from Jefferson. Instead, Wong serves up healthy bite-size skewers of veggies, poultry and fish; small plates of fall-off-the-bone cocoa-rubbed pork ribs with butternut squash in a panang curry; spicy king pow with scallops and chicken; juicy dayboat scallops with truffle avocado and potatoes; and cardamom- and -pistachio-nut-crusted cod with tamarind-stewed snake beans. And the result? Jefferson Grill is now packed on a nightly basis. And it's not just because the cuisine has been updated to match the latest trends in taste bud massaging. The prices will make your checkbook smile too.
