 Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q Restaurant Review: Grits piled with pulled pork and spicy sauce is a dish available only on Wednesdays. Originally offered only on Tuesdays, tacos now turn up on other days, and may be stuffed with fish, chicken or beef brisket in addition to pork. Or get an appetizer of Kitchen Sink Bar-B-Q Nachos or Bar-B-Q Quesadilla with melted jack cheese, roasted corn and peppers. Of course, you still have the traditional plates, sandwiches, salads and loaded potatoes. Besides pork, the huge brick pits here also turn out hickory-smoked turkey and ham, tasty beef brisket and homemade sausages. Those not in the mood for barbecue have plenty of other options, from steak to chicken tenders. In addition to the usual sides, there are cinnamon apples, creamed spinach, braised collard greens chunky with meat, and macaroni and cheese. Don’t miss the buttery homemade cheese biscuits that resemble cheese-flecked mini-muffins. Pies are prepared every day, and even the crust is scratch-made. Pie flavors include chocolate cream, lemon ice-box, coconut cream and pecan. A miniscule wine list is on target to go with the food and brews include regional beers. |
