Uncle Jim Neely began teaching his nephews the secrets of slow-roasting ribs and pulled pork long before nephew Pat Neely landed his own cooking show on the Food Network ("Down Home with the Neely’s"). The elder Neely’s claim to fame includes his tender ribs and a dark, rich barbecue sauce. The décor is no-frills; the atmosphere laidback and casual; and the variety of smoked meats on the menu is daunting: pork ribs, beef ribs, chopped or sliced pork or deli-trimmed beef, chicken, turkey, beef links, bologna and more. Barbecue spaghetti is a Memphis original. Desserts include Mama Neely’s famous “Sock-It-To-Me” Cake, a golden cake filled with candied pecans and topped with a sweet sugar glaze. The restaurant does serve beer and wine, but selections are minimal. Also located at 150 W. Stateline Rd., Southhaven, Miss, 662-383-5699.
