Jinsei Restaurant Review: With its dark-walled interior and splashes of red and green, this intimate jewel box of a restaurant offers a lovely setting. Soft lighting and artfully plated dishes make a stylish statement. Tempura green beans are a popular starter, but the tebasake wings are crunchy and appealingly flavorful. The signature cold dish is Kadoma tuna, with slices of avocado fanned around a fried and cooled disk of sushi rice that's topped with spicy tuna, jalapeño and flying fish roe. The Red Dragon roll combines spicy and seared tuna with cucumber and a dressing. Hot dishes include black cod with miso and rock shrimp tempura as well as the popular Kobe beef baby burgers. River Rock Kobe beef is presented raw to sizzle on hot rocks nestled in salt. Choose from a nice selection of wine and saké, with premium Champagnes such as Cristal and Taittinger. Jinsei has special pricing on some sushi and cocktails on Sunday and Monday and half-priced bottles of red and white wine on Tuesday.
