Jo Bar & Rotisserie Restaurant Review: Jo Bar and its sister restaurant Papa Haydn have similar menus, but the former offers a more sophisticated cuisine. Comfortable chairs, a shiny central bar, and a wide marble counter set the stage at this tony cocktail lounge and bistro. Big windows allow diners to watch the parade of people walking by, and on nice days there's sidewalk seating. The wood-fired oven inspires many of the entrées, from fish to steak to baked pastas. Risottos are always a tasty choice, most notably the lobster risotto with a seared scallop on top. Salads are a good option as well --- try the bay shrimp cake with mixed greens, avocado and citrus segments, or the steak salad with butter lettuce and brioche croutons. Jo Bar churns out some pretty good sweets, too, such as a warm chocolate cake, fruit cobbler and bread pudding. The bartenders concoct some of the best drinks in town, and the service is always precise. Sunday brunch selections include a duck confit frittata and a smoked salmon crêpe. |
