Do you remember Josef’s as a celebrated German restaurant, with Bavarian-garbed waitresses serving up generous plates of wiener schnitzel, sauerbraten with spätzle, and kassler rippchen, hearty smoked pork chops served with sauerkraut and potatoes? Well, things have changed at this charming country dweller. A few German vestiges remain, such as a sausage trio, but Josef’s now offers a continental kitchen, specializing in such dishes as veals both française and Oscar, blackened shrimp over angel hair pasta, entrecôte de boeuf Marco Polo, filet mignon with béarnaise, and pork chops McGreevy served with potato-leek hash and Boursin cream, and named for the restaurant’s longtime bartender.
