Joy District Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant and décor: Joy District holds its own in the restau-lounge-heavy River North nightlife district. Playful and bold, the space makes a statement in every corner, from the oversized rocker murals to the industrial lighting.

Likes: Fun décor, whimsical touches (Hello, cotton candy!) and an intimate rooftop bar.
Dislikes: None.

Food & Drinks: Executive chef Matt Wilde summons Asian flavors on a menu built for grazing. Buttery tuna stars in poke cones, while lobster rolls reveal a surprise stuffing: glass noodles, charred chicken and orange ginger sauce. For mains, pan-roasted snapper with coconut sticky rice is special occasion worthy. And carnivores won’t be disappointed in the Slagel Farms butter burger with red rock cheddar, miso aïoli and black garlic. Sushi, rice bowls and cold plates complete the Asian experience. Make dessert whimsical (and photo ready) by ordering the cotton candy. A rooftop lounge sizzles and is both a starting point and a destination when weather warms up, thanks to a DJ and a solid lineup of bottle service, saké and large format cocktails.
