| More refined than most college bars with good service and decent food, this is where UW students looking for drink deals head at happy hour. The $3 well drinks and microbrews can't be beat. But what really sets this spot apart from other U District dining establishments is its laid-back atmosphere, wine-colored walls, and low-key décor. The menu is also a cut above typical bar food, making it a good choice for date night. Start with the chicken pot stickers or chili spiced tiger prawns. Manila steamer clams bask in a heady lemon grass-ginger broth flecked with garlic and tomato bits. Portions are generous, whether you order the juicy grilled burger or a Greek salad scattered with feta and dressed with a red wine-oregano vinaigrette. A tasty fettuccine Alfredo features an herb-Parmesan cream sauce and is topped with grilled chicken. Move on for dessert, because it's not served here, which is fine with everyone considering the generous dinner and lunch portions. |
