Kanella Restaurant Review

: Chef Konstantinos Pitsillides brings authentic Cypriot-Greek cuisine to Kanella, a charming BYOB near Pine Street’s Antique Row. Open for breakfast three days a week, this is the spot for Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts, crêpes stuffed with a semi-soft sheep cheese, and eggs frizzled in olive oil. But it’s at dinner that the chef really shines. A master with grilled seafood and deeply flavored braises --- and no wonder, he hails from an island and a family of butchers and farmers --- Pitsillides also offers familiar Greek menu items with a twist, such as vegetarian moussaka, the haloumi cheese-and-mint-filled ravioli, and his country’s version of panzanella, a salad of garlicky pita chips flavored with feta, tomatoes and olives. Don’t miss the house-baked Cypriot pastries for dessert.
