Kapow! Noodle Bar Restaurant Review:

While this hip hangout, accented with Asian manga/anime and American cartoons of fantasy monsters and heroes battling (hence the “Kapow!”), has been a hit since it opened, the “noodle bar” part of the name is a misnomer, as noodle bowls are a minor part of the food menu. Most of it is devoted to chef-driven pan-Asian small plates, many of the Greatest Hits genre --- some traditional (pad thai, tweaked to be slightly spicier and less cloying than average Americanized versions); some trendy (Chinese/Korean steamed fold-over buns). And many dishes aren’t so much pan-Asian as fusion items that take off from somewhere in Asia but travel globally, like wonton empanadas: fried wonton wrappers filled with a decidedly Latin mix of ground beef, raisins and potatoes. As to beverages, drinks are carefully crafted to pair with the food as well as stand on their own. Cocktails eschew gimmicky sweetness for clean herbaceousness and refreshment; herbs for all drinks, in fact, come from the eatery’s beds in the Boca Raton Community Garden. On the softer side, bar wizards are happy to arrange a taste-testing “flight” of many saké styles.
