Karisma Cantina Restaurant Review:

Bustling at happy hour and by night, and in the heart of Polanco’s hotel-tourism strip, Karisma is more about familiarity and margaritas than the food, which is not much different from chain Tex-Mex joints found in the States. The menu includes fajitas, empanadas, tortilla soup, tacos and more, though there are a few surprises: an appetizer salad of nopal cactus leaves, or the “filete sabana,” a carne asada-style steak served with Mexican delicacies huitlacoche, salty, country-style cottage cheese and epazote. The “Mexican crêpes,” filled with a variety of cheeses and spices, make a fun starter. Still, “tricolor” enchiladas (a combo of three with green, red and cream sauces) may arrive only “bicolor” and go down dispassionately. On the plus side, service is charming and attentive, and the sizeable margaritas are tasty. It may be wise to have a drink, watch the passing parade, share a snack and move on.
