Chef-owner Katie Gerrard Scheuch and her husband co-owner Steve wow Santa Clara with the charming Katie’s Café Amore. Gracious service and an innovative style of California-inspired Italian cuisine keep folks coming back. Start with Katie’s own recipes for bruschetta and crostini made with a blue cheese mixture and topped with roasted walnuts. For your main course, try Katie’s cannelloni stuffed with chicken sautéed with green onion, garlic and a hint of blue cheese served over a bed of sautéed fresh spinach and topped with a creamy roasted red bell pepper and basil pesto sauce; or the house pasta dish of linguine tossed with chicken strips sautéed with garlic, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, roasted red bell peppers, kalamata olives and capers in a light white wine sauce sprinkled with blue cheese and walnuts. Save room for dessert; Katie’s bananas Foster, wine-malted pears and tiramisu are knee-weakening.
