Keedy's Fountain & Grill Restaurant Review:
Keedy's is the opposite of the kind of place you'd find on El Paseo, which is located just behind the restaurant's back door. This desert landmark is popular with locals and has been serving breakfast and lunch to loyal guests since 1957. Décor is simple: a real soda fountain with a Formica counter and a smattering of tables and booths. There’s a constant hum of blenders, too, coupled with a menu of classic comfort food. Breakfast offers traditional omelets and fluffy pancakes, with crêpes being the wild card. Lunch includes thick burgers, club sandwiches and favorites like the BLT. Modern-day soda jerks hand-scoop ice cream into silver cups, add milk and place them under a machine that mixes it all together, enhancing with a hint of malt and real whipped cream. A trip to Keedy’s is comparable to culinary time travel, proving good food transcends age and eras.
