 Kenny & Ziggy's Restaurant Review: If you’re looking for an authentic deli, head to Kenny & Ziggy’s. Ziggy Gruber is a third-generation deli man from New York. Kenny Friedman convinced Gruber to bring real New York deli food to Houston and Kenny & Ziggy’s was born in 1999. The extensive menu features everything you would expect, from cheese blintzes to sandwiches piled six-inches high with house-cured pastrami and corned beef. The lox, sable and whitefish are flown in daily from New York, and you can even order an old-fashioned egg cream. Try the “Zellagabetsky” --- an eight-decker sandwich on special-cut rye with corned beef, pastrami, turkey, roast beef, salami, tongue, Swiss cheese, coleslaw, Russian dressing and sweet red peppers. If you can finish it off in one sitting, the reward is a free slice of cheesecake. There’s also a full breakfast menu served until 11 a.m. weekdays. |
