Key Largo Conch House Restaurant Review: The pink gingerbread cottage with a brick patio and tropical foliage looks like it belongs in Key West, but this family-owned restaurant is located right at the gateway to the Keys. The comfortable dining room, outfitted in oh-so-tropical turquoise and melon-pink, offers everything from coffee to conch chowder, and being that everything is house-made --- right down to the cocktail sauces --- it’s all worth trying. Standout items include a conch eggs Benedict topped with conch ceviche (really, where else are you going to find that?), conch fritters containing a whiff of curry, first-rate fish tacos, and conch meunière. Save room for dessert, though: carrot cake and, of course, Key lime pie, all baked by “Mom,” the owner Laura Deaver. |
