Khun Pic's Bahn Thai Restaurant Review: This is not the place to go if you’re in a hurry or require a flawless server. But if you’re willing to overlook a few imperfections and are seeking traditional Thai food in a charming setting, you’ll want to frequent this quirky spot. Located in a vintage Portland house with a hard-to-spot iron gate and a sweet garden in summer months, the restaurant is a husband and wife operation. She’s in the kitchen making everything from scratch; he’s doing everything else, although sometimes very slowly. The spicy coconut soup is dynamite, a demonstration of that essential Thai balance of fire and cream. Curries are especially intriguing and intensely flavored. The stir-fries tend to be loaded with garlic, and the various prawn dishes are generally first-rate. The salad rolls with good peanut sauce are well worth the wait. |
