Kim Son on Westheimer, close to the Galleria area, offers a more intimate dining experience than the huge pagoda-style flagship on the edge of downtown. With stylish interiors and three large windows looking onto symbolic pocket garden enclosures, this is the most tranquil and romantic of all the Kim Son locations. You will find the same authentic Asian cooking as at the downtown flagship. The crispy, fried Vietnamese egg rolls along with the numerous versions of bun, the quintessential meal-in-a-bowl, consistently please us, while a house specialty, the ga xoi mo xoi chien, roasted Cornish hen, served with Mama La's honey-garlic sauce, bowls us over with its aroma and flavor. The hard-to-eat but tantalizing black-pepper crab is a tried-and-true favorite. For lunch, this location offers interesting and economical combination plates.
