| One of the few classic fine dining options in downtown Phoenix, this clubby eatery fills up before sporting events. Diners seek big steaks (14-ounce New York with crispy buttermilk onion strings), a topnotch prime rib sandwich (served with mac ‘n’ cheese), seafood (Asiago-almond-crusted sea scallops with caramelized onions and roasted peppers in champagne beurre blanc is complicated but tasty), and chicken (a favorite is the pan-seared chicken breast with wild mushroom stuffing, Brie, goat cheese, almonds and caramelized sweet onions). At lunch, there’s a suit and tie ambience, but a more relaxed menu with some very pleasing choices like bacon-wrapped Kobe meatloaf, seafood Louie salad, and a darn good hot ham and cheese sandwich. Surprisingly, it's a great place to take the kids, too, with a children's menu and private areas for rowdier rug rats. |
