King Fung Garden Restaurant Review: The exterior of King Fung Garden barely even resembles a restaurant, and a step inside, which reveals Formica tables and Naugahyde trim, will take you back in time. But the food will transport you to today, with offerings from Szechuan lamb soup to filets of sole with vegetables. Regulars phone a day in advance to order the first-rate Peking duck, served in three separate courses. Even basic soups, like hot-and-sour and shrimp with bean curd, are robustly flavored enough to seem novel. Scallion pancakes and pan-fried Peking ravioli are a marvel: crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, and not too greasy. The noodle dishes are always a big hit; fried noodles, chow foon rice noodles or traditional dan dan noodles. A Brookline sibling stands in its shadow. |
