King Gyros Greek Restaurant Restaurant Review: Born in Greece, owner Yanni Chalkias has been in the restaurant business most of his life. He loves what he’s doing --- it shows --- and sharing family recipes with diners is his joy. We favor the daily specials, all of which include a cup of homemade soup or fries and side of pita bread. We recommend the bone-in lamb shanks, slow-cooked for more than five hours, and served with saffron rice, vegetables, lemon dill sauce and choice of side. Another hit is dolmades, tender, hand-rolled grape leaves stuffed with rice, ground beef, finely chopped vegetables and Greek herbs and topped with creamy lemon dill sauce. Or, try the juicy feta burger and Greek fries. The restaurant is family-friendly with a kids’ menu ranging from the picky-eater’s grilled cheese and fries to the relatively adventurous gyro. Check out the family value meals as well. Not surprisingly, there's baklava for dessert. Besides the traditional version, there’s also cappuccino baklava, strawberry cheesecake baklava and pecan bird's nest, the latter being our favorite. The pastry is stuffed with Greek custard and topped with crushed pecans. |
