Kipos Greek Taverna Restaurant Review: Kipos celebrates the native cuisine of its exuberant owner-chef Giorgio Bakatsias. Its dining rooms’ bold colors, festive lighting and rustic tables exude a Greek island ambience --- sunshine and good cheer. Start dinner with pita slices with a variety of toppings such as salmon roe, eggplant with walnuts, and herbed feta. All the expected Greek classics are here: moussaka, pastitsio, keftedes and a hearty fisherman’s stew. Consider fresh salads (Kipos means “garden”), house-baked breads, and savory phyllo pies made by Bakatsias’ sister and head chef, Olga. Menu standouts are a whole grilled fish and rotisserie lamb and chicken. Finish with a house-made walnut-laden baklava or a slice of phyllo-crusted cheesecake. The wine list is devoted to Greek labels exclusively, and many good selections are available. Be aware that when there's entertainment, such as live music and traditional dancing, the atmosphere can become pretty lively --- and loud.
