 Your Kitchen Restaurant Review: Your Kitchen is a charming hole in the wall in the older neighborhood of Palolo, opened in 2009 by a husband-and-wife team who had moved to Hawaii from Japan only a year prior. The space is tiny, with the kitchen taking up most of the real estate and just enough room for a small table and a bench. Start with the salad udon, a cold bowl of chewy udon noodles topped with greens, poached chicken, and a tasty sesame dressing. Don’t miss the boiled pork bowl, our favorite with velvety, fatty pork braised in a ginger soy sauce, and topped with a deep fried egg---a soft-boiled egg marinated in slightly sweet shoyu, crusted in panko and quickly deep-fried so that the yolk is still runny. Finish with their renowned shave ice, which is addicting due to their homemade syrups. You’ll find real fruit pulp in the mango syrup, which is thick and not too sweet. |
