The Kitchen Restaurant Review: The hours-long, five-course "demonstration dinners" offered by The Kitchen highlight the skills of chefs Randy Selland and Nancy Zimmer. The live version of a TV cooking show is known for its extravagance, and makes a unique dining experience. The prix-fixe menu changes regularly, but diners can count on fresh seafood and meat, seasonal produce and decadent desserts. Meals may include a warm black rice salad with lamb and shrimp, duck consommé with crispy pork hash, and seared steelhead with bay scallops and salmon powder. The chefs themselves suggest wines for each course, but their carefully selected wine list invites independent exploring. The venue is often booked months in advance, and while dinner is a pricey $125 per person, The Kitchen offers its wines at retail --- not restaurant --- prices. |
