Kurumazushi, New York, NY

Kurumazushi Restaurant Review

: Everyone is greeted with a rousing shout upon entering this strangely situated restaurant, located on the second floor of an office building. With a sushi bar and two private tatami rooms, Kurumazushi serves some of the finest sushi and sashimi in the city. To get a truly authentic and memorable experience, sit at the sushi bar and order omakase. (Tasting menus start at $80 and go up to $300.) Once the meal begins, know that you’re in good hands as a dazzling array of sushi and sashimi --- so fresh you'll swear it's still moving --- appears in front of you in a ritualized order. The meal ends with refreshing ice cream. Saké is served in delicate gold-flecked glasses, and the selection is first-rate.

Sushi overrated

The fish was good, however, not extraordinary, actually quite ordinary. There weren't any fancy dishes either. Everything was extremely simple, or plain. They only serve one house sake. The decor is very ordinary. It was disappointing.
