La Peniche Restaurant Review: Marigny residents rely on La Peniche all day and all night, making it a favorite spot for members of the food service industry; it attracts everybody from the after-hours bar crowd to ladies who lunch. Bargeboard walls and white lace curtains lend a rustic air, though the vibe turns more rollicking as the hours pass and more hungry patrons turn up after a night on the town. Hamburgers, fried seafood and red beans are all done competently, though the main draw seems to be breakfast served any time. Poached egg dishes and omelets are simple and more than satisfactory. Usually found on the brunch board is something like poached eggs Sardou, atop creamed spinach, a fresh artichoke bottom and with a passable hollandaise. Daily desserts may include Key lime or peanut butter pie. Beer and wine, mostly California selections, are available. La Peniche closes the first two and a half weeks of July for vacation.
