THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED La Villa Ristorante Restaurant Review:
Dante Vannelli, whose family started in the restaurant business in 1929 and ran popular restaurants for several generations, gave up his own spot a couple of years ago and got bored. He signed on here as executive chef and his menu of butter and garlic-infused dishes, typified by shrimp scampi, one of several shrimp dishes on the menu, along with solid Italian pastas bathed in Bolognese, clam or pesto sauces, veal and chicken Marsala or Tosca, combined with such roadhouse specialties as Delmonico, New York strip and Porterhouse steaks, is served on out-sized white plates in a setting that is anything but roadhouse style in feeling. Light floods through uncovered windows with painted-on café curtains, and faux cobblestone pillars and pots of greenery break up the room into more intimate areas. With twinkling crystal chandeliers overhead, the room looks dressy, but the casual suburban clientele doesnt dress up. Dinners are complete with soup and salad and the wine list offers a good range of choices in the $30-$50 neighborhood, with about a dozen by the glass.
