| In the quaint “town” of Baldwin Park, this chic dining room would be at home on South Beach or in New York City. A beautiful open kitchen, lakeside seating, a cool bar and lounge: Lago looks the part, but the food and service aren’t quite up to par. Choose carefully, though, and you’ll be satisfied. For starters, the carpaccio and the grilled octopus with tomato ceviche and basil-chipotle aïoli are worth a taste. Skip the pastas. For a main course, try the grilled duck breast with creamy polenta, the mixed seafood grill or the pan-seared snapper with arugula, shrimp, crab and olives. The dining room is quiet enough for conversation, with tables of well-dressed Baldwin Park families and stylish couples throughout. |
