| Dining in this bayou-inspired chain transports one to a calming tropical ambience, even when this brick-walled restaurant is packed, which is most of the time. Trees, plants, track lighting, gas lamps, ceiling fans and walls adorned with seafaring scenes enhance the aura, with a reminder we're in Las Vegas---a colorful mural featuring Elvis and a showgirl among the bayou characters. Starters such as fried calamari with red pepper rémoulade are also served in the bar. We like the shrimp and crab fondue with mushrooms sautéed in sherry cream and pepper jack cheese. The popular shrimp, fresh fish, oyster po' boys and Landry's gold burgers with cheddar cheese are served with steak fries and onion rings. Imaginative fish preparations are winners, including broiled or dipped-in-seasoned-cornmeal-and-fried catfish filets and Parmesan-crusted sea bass Madrid topped with jumbo shrimp and scallops, artichoke hearts, pine nuts and mushrooms. We like the angel hair pasta with sautéed shrimp, scallops, mussels, mushrooms, garlic, olive oil and fresh herbs. The extensive wine list nicely complements the hearty fare. Save room for Landry's signature bananas Foster pastry. |
