Located in the heart of Santana Row, Lark Creek Kitchen (formerly Lark Creek Blue), under the direction of executive chef Nick Tall, serves up hearty, tasteful American fare. Small plates, including grilled country bread with hummus, tuna carpaccio, caramelized peach salad with hazelnut brittle and Brie, and blistered shishito peppers with Maldon salt, are easy to share. Polenta fried cod arrives piping hot and crispy yet nicely moist; soft Laura Chenel’s goat cheese gnocchi pair with kale and mushrooms. Braised local lamb with pasta, lemon ricotta, grilled fennel, green olives and pesto is heartily satisfying. Craft cocktails are clever but not pretentious, and there’s a reasonable wine selection. Craft beer is a focal point. Save room for dessert: go for the fresh peach tart or other seasonal option.
