This intimate bistro offers a romantic setting for enjoying carefully crafted, seasonally-inspired dishes from chef-owner Johnathan Sundstrom. The restaurant’s small but intriguing menu is divided into five sections: cheese, vegetables/grains, charcuterie, fish and meat. Plates are meant to be shared, so order at least one item from each category. Favorites have included cauliflower soup with lovage, smoked prosciutto with twelfth-century chutney, pork loin with prunes in eau de vie, mussels with bacon, apple and shallots, and duck leg with caramelized apples. Lark’s desserts include a light Meyer lemon parfait, rich mascarpone cheesecake, and a dark chocolate pavé with hazelnuts and salted toffee ice cream. On busier nights, be prepared for a wait as reservations are accepted only for parties of six or more. Relax at the postage stamp-size bar at the rear of the dining room or hang out next door at Licorous, a lounge owned by Sundstrom. Here you'll find handcrafted cocktails and seasonal infusions. Lark’s small wine list is well-balanced but a bit pricey.
