Dining room at Larry's, Venice, CA

Larry's Restaurant Review

: Larry's, named after artist Larry Bell, who once lived nearby, fits right in with the funky Venice scene. The casual indoor/outdoor gastropub celebrates Venice’s rich art heritage, and features work from Bell and others. The beachfront eatery is a project of chef Brendan Collins and operations manager Carolos Tomazos of Culver City’s Waterloo & City. There’s a large outdoor patio with a fireplace, as well as indoor seating where guests can take a gander at the 26 beer taps behind the bar. Collins designed the menu, which is aptly executed by chef Joe Cook. Diners can choose from charcuterie (a Collins specialty), pizzas, satisfying burgers and other dishes, such as green curry mussels, ahi with a cashew satay sauce and fish tacos. All are priced under $20. End your meal with the sticky toffee pudding topped with vanilla ice cream. The long list of beers offers several Belgian selections, and a short but reliable wine list has a global perspective. A full bar was added, enhancing the fun.
