 Laurel Tavern Restaurant Review: Almost any night of the week, you'll find locals packing the tables and aisles of this neighborhood gem after work and long into the noisy evening. The décor includes flooring reclaimed from a 1920’s industrial warehouse, luminous Edison bulbs, a walnut butcher-block bar and exposed brick. Ordering off chalkboards at the bar, choose from a dynamic selection of 16 American microbrews on tap. A dozen or so wines by the glass, focusing on West Coast boutique labels like Consilience, are also options---and reasonably priced. Peppered steak fries come lightly coated in pork fat, and roast marrow bones, though somewhat too bland, are elegantly served with fresh horseradish, pickled shallots and parsley. Vegetarians find offerings including heirloom tomatoes and burrata. Finally, a juicy hickory burger is almost a perfect meal, dressed in caramelized onions, Tillamook cheddar and a delicate smoky sauce.
