Laurelthirst Public House Restaurant Review: The food isn’t really the draw at this casual neighborhood joint. There’s nothing wrong with the standard pancakes, omelets, burgers, nachos and the like, but most people come for the nightly live music. Many of Portland’s best alternative country and folk bands play in the narrow space, offering an opportunity to hear some good music in an intimate setting. On weekends, people come and go all day, some lingering over breakfast with the newspaper, others enjoying a satisfying vegetarian lunch, shooting some pool with a pitcher of beer---there's a changing selection on tap---or listening to the eclectic music that has made this place a landmark. |
