| Lazy Dog Café graciously fills a niche in the OC restaurant scene: casual yet fine family dining, and at reasonable prices. This location is a rather long walk away from The Honda Center, making it a good place to park and eat on game night---if you can find a parking spot in the shopping center. The spacious interior features rustic woods and a full bar with several plasma screens and an enthusiastic sporting crowd. The strong cocktails are a good start, along with the large selection of wines, mostly from California, and draft beer. Chef Gabriel Caliendo has created an eclectic menu full of American, Italian, Asian and other globally-inspired dishes. First, order the spicy calamari for the entire table, or share an order of the palate-opening Hawaiian ahi poke. The entrée list includes everything from chili fries and oven-baked pizzas to wok platters and Prime steaks. At meal’s end, splurge on the “doggie bowl sundae,” a classic banana split served in a real porcelain dog bowl. Dog owners love this restaurant as canines are eagerly welcomed on the outdoor patio, where they'll find easy access to water bowls. |
