Le Chardonnay Wine Bar & Bistro Restaurant Review: Low lighting and wood-lined décor give Le Chardonnay the feel of a rustic wine cellar. And that makes it the perfect place for a romantic dinner date. But on weekend nights, the restaurant is also host to theatre and movie lovers because it’s just feet away from Midtown’s largest playhouse and the neighborhood’s only movie theatre. Candles on tables provide just enough illumination to read the menu and make everyone look good. Food ranges from cedar-roasted rib-eye to a large selection of gourmet wood-fired pizzas. Dine lightly on tapas, such as baked Brie with honey pesto or wood-oven roasted oysters and sliders topped with smoked Gouda. Main attractions among desserts are Key lime pie and crème brûlée. Le Chardonnay boasts one of the most impressive wine lists in Midtown, with more than 100 choices (around 40 are offered by the glass). Domestic wines predominate but other wine-growing regions are represented as well.
