| Although chef-owner Bruce Naftaly keeps a low profile, he is well-respected both for the quality of his classically-inspired French cuisine and for being one of Seattle’s first chefs to focus on organic, local ingredients. Renovations have transformed a dated old-world setting into a lovely, intimate space. The menu changes seasonally and might include favorites such as Champagne-marinated trout, salmon in a sauce vin blanc made with fresh rose petals, and rack of lamb crusted with fresh mint. For dessert, a favorite is profiteroles filled with homemade ice cream. The seven-course dinner is well worth the splurge. The lovely wine list is thoughtfully chosen. Located just behind the restaurant, Le Gourmand’s casual lounge, Sambar, serves creative cocktails, small plates and desserts. |
