| Short of a plane ticket, Lefty’s is the closest San Diegans are going to get to Chicago-style pizza. Yes, the menu includes other Midwest favorites such as Polish street sausage and Italian sub sandwiches, but when people come to Lefty’s, they have one thing on their minds: pizza. Choose between thin and crispy, deep-dish and the king of pizzas, stuffed. We say go for it and order the Monster of the Midway that comes with sausage, pepperoni, elephant garlic and hot giardiniera (a blend of olives, pepperoncini, vegetables, garlic, cayenne, oil and herbs). Vegetarians will like the Farmers Market, loaded with mushroom, eggplant, zucchini and garlic, while carnivores will crave the Meaty Pie (sausage, pepperoni, Italian beef and meatballs). |
