| Originally a family chowder house in Cambridge, Mass., Legal Sea Foods is now a thriving chain, with this mall location the first in the area. There’s also a second mini-outpost at the airport. Save for the cheesy paper placemats --- the place is really too pretty to take that shortcut --- this restaurant is a cut above the usual shopping center eatery. Pristine seafood, New England clam chowder, something from the handsome raw bar and classic fish ‘n’ chips are all good bets. Or tuck into Treasures of the Reef, a smorgasbord of briny oysters, sweet cherrystones, shrimp cocktail, and half a steamed lobster. It’s enough to share, if you really must. Kids are treated like VIPs, complete with their own menu and sea scene for finny coloring fun. For dessert, you can't go wrong with the Boston cream pie --- better yet, pair it with a glass of tawny port. |
