One of three South Florida locations of the Boston-based seafood chain, Legal offers excellent seafood chowders, stone crabs (in season) and East Coast regional seafood. Ipswich clams and a bounty of oysters are ideal precursors to a feast of soft-shell crabs, lobster or grilled fish. A watchful eye clearly oversees the selection of the wines with which to enjoy this casual food. The heavily tiled space looks like a synthesis of a contemporary kitchen and a supermarket. Scrubbed and bright, it isn’t exactly intimate. It is comfortable, however, and reliable for both consistent quality and its careful marking of contemporary issues---witness the corporation’s dedication to celiac disease with the restaurants’ gluten-free menus.
